What should you do if you notice a pothole on your street? No matter how insignificant you think it may be, simply email the Department of Public Works'(DPW) Bureau of Street and Sewer Repair for its Street Resurfacing Program at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 3-1-1. Provide the nearest address, as well as the names of cross-streets for the problem area. If emailing, do not include attachments. Within 48 hours, a DPW crew will come out to make repairs or outline a plan for more extensive work.
Potholes in the City are caused by a variety of factors, such as water seepage, traffic and failed sewers. The latter factor obviously rates as an emergency, so be sure to alert the DPW immediately if you notice significant trouble. However, sometimes major problems begin as minor ones, so the City welcomes reports on even small potholes.
Visit the DPW's Pothole Repairs Web page for more details on street repair.
