Earnest Money

If you've recently bought or sold a home, you may be familiar with the term earnest money, which is a deposit a buyer pays to a seller as a pledge to follow through with the purchase. Typically, if the buyer withdraws from the agreement, he/she forfeits the deposit. This payment, also known as a good faith deposit, commits the seller to his end of the deal, as well.
